IEEE R10 Sections/Subsections Website Competition
Introduction
The IEEE Region 10 Information Management Committee recognizes the importance of improving the website performance for sections and subsections in Region 10 and makes the website a more effective tool to disseminate the current information in the most effective and efficient manner to IEEE members, collect valuable data and protect stored information. The R10 Sections/Subsections Website Competition aims to strengthen user experience by aiding IEEE site visitors in navigating critical information online such as activities, recent tech updates, learning opportunities, IEEE Benefits, etc.
Eligibility
The competition is open to all IEEE sections and subsections in Region 10. Only one (1) submission per section and per subsection.
Judging Criteria
- A panel of judges will evaluate the sites for their aesthetics, content, functionality, engagement, and other required elements.
- A member of the judging panel may not evaluate websites from his/her own section or subsection. Judging panel members must declare any possible conflicts of interest when evaluating a video.
- The judges reserve the right to modify the competition rules and/or submission procedures as deemed necessary should a technical issue arise during the competition.
- The judges reserve the right to make clarifications with regard to the competition rules as deemed necessary.
- The decision by the judging panel, as accepted by the R10 Director, will be the final decision and no appeal against the decision will be entertained.
Assessment Criteria
- Aesthetics (25 points)
Creativity, appearance, look, feel, white space, consistent font, use of visuals, judicious use of animation/video/sound, etc. - Content & functionality (40 points)
– Information about Section, Subsections, Chapters, Affinity Groups, Student Branches
– Is information and material worthwhile and useful to IEEE members?
– Is relevant information easily found within one or two clicks?
– Is the information up to date?
– Are the URL, links, and structure generally functional and easy to navigate?
– Correct spelling and grammar
– Entries must adhere to copyright laws. Therefore, all graphics and multimedia components used in the competition must have been granted permission before using the file.
– Error-free website
– All links on the website must be active.
Prohibited Content:
Each website must not contain material deemed objectionable to IEEE (e.g. no pornography, no profanity, nothing offensive to a person’s gender, ethnicity, or religious beliefs, and no references to alcohol, tobacco, or drugs). - Engagement (25 points)
– Interactivity, integration of social media, opportunity to engage, etc. - Required elements (10 points)
– Website uses correct IEEE branding (https://brand-experience.ieee.org)
– Ensure a Cookie Banner is displayed on the website in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
– Link to the IEEE Region 10 website (www.ieeer10.org) and IEEE website (www.ieee.org)
– Clear membership information on how someone can join and renew the IEEE
– Calendar of events
– Gallery of events
– Officer/board information
Prizes
A total of three best websites for sections and three best websites for subsections will be selected and ranked first, second, and third to be eligible for the cash prizes and e-certificate.
For Section:
- First place: USD 750
- Second place: USD 500
- Third place: USD 250
For Subsection:
- First place: USD 750
- Second place: USD 500
- Third place: USD 250
IEEE Region 10 Information Management Committee will notify the results of the program through email to all the selected winners and their respective Section & Subsection Chair and Secretary.
Schedule
- Contest open: 18 June 2022 at 12:01 AM (GMT+7)
- Submissions Deadline: 14 Sept 2022 at 11:59 PM (GMT+7)
- Processing period: 15 – 22 September 2022
- Assessment period: 22 Sept – 7 Oct 2022
- Winners Notification: 14 October 2022
R10 Information Management Committee will launch the competition by announcing it online media and sending email notifications to all Section & Subsection Chairs.
